LPC employees make CAP donation

Shop with a Cop may be over and the majority of gift packages have left the Christmas assistance headquarters at Southern Hills Church (both occurred Dec. 7), but the need continues. Christmas Assistance Program will continue to take donations through the holiday season.

CAP volunteers, Amy Crane and Tracy Purkhiser and a host of others have worked feverishly to make sure that every child enrolled in CAP has a good Christmas. “We will still accept donations,” Crane said.

The volunteers spend the time between package pickup and Christmas purchasing items that are still needed. There were a total of 383 children that were gifted during this year’s program.

Much of the shopping is divided among groups like Shop with a Cop, John Jones Auto Group, whose employees shop using the Colie Claus employee donation money, the Salvation Army who takes names for their Angel Tree program and Turtlefish, who does a bulk of the shopping thanks, in part, to generous community donations.

When they say, “It takes a village to raise a child,” that is also true of the Christmas Assistance Program.

Leader Publishing Company employees participate in a payroll deduction plan all year long. This year's donation was  $728.
