Awareness Washington County seeks new We The Youth Director

The Awareness Washington County Board announced this week that the organization is seeking applicants for the position of We The Youth (WTY) Director. The deadline has been extended and resumes will be accepted until January 17, 2020, at 6 p.m.

WTY has prepared more than 300 young people for servant leadership since it began in 1995, providing a unique opportunity for individuals from diverse backgrounds to come together to grow as servant leaders. They do this within a supportive community built on respect, responsibility, and trust. The WTY program is open to a limited number of Washington County high school students each year. The program’s curriculum is adapted each year according to the dynamics of the group but usually includes community education, communication, organizational skills, inclusion, understanding and using learning styles in leadership, collaboration, visioning and community service.

“Developing leadership skills in the young people of the county will ensure the success of Washington County in the future,” according to Deni Stempowski, AWC Executive Director. “We are able to develop those skills through the We the Youth Program.”
