Two faces long familiar to local pizza lovers are  still making pies, but in a new location. Brian Albertson and Bill Schreiber, who managed the Salem Papa John’s for many years, are the new owners of Main Street Pizza.

The two hope to continue the relationships they’ve developed with customers over the years.

“We knew our customers by name, we didn’t have to ask,” said Schreiber. “It was like they were coming to get pizza from a friend, not a business. We value the relationships we’ve developed over the years.”

The two say the business relationships they’ve already established in the community and the product they’ll be offering make them unique. Main Street will be delivering to local factories for lunch and offer local in-town deliveries during business hours.

They will also make some changes to the menu, adding a large pizza and a hand-tossed crust and will have a gluten-free option. Main Street’s menu includes hot subs, wings and bread sticks as well.

The two advise customers to watch The Leader as they plan to advertise specials and offer coupons. “We will make it affordable,” promised Schreiber. “We want a family to be able to come in for a meal they can afford.”

The two also said they want feedback from the community so they can finetune what they offer. “Of course, we have to make money but we want to make our customers happy,” said Schreiber.

Albertson said they are planning to give the space a facelift and fresh look in the future. Both said they’re excited about this new venture. “It’s not too often you can get a place and start your own business,” said Schreiber.

Albertson stressed customer satisfaction is a top priority. “It’s very important to a business. Customers are what keep a business going.”

The two also plan to give back to the community through fundraisers, something that was key when they managed Papa John’s.

Main Street Pizza, 406 S. Main St., is open Monday-Thursday 10 a.m.-9 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-10 p.m. and Sunday 1-9 p.m. The phone number is 812.883.9496.
