We are ready for summer fun!

In the last few weeks, my girls and I have been talking about summer plans, wishes, ideas, etc. for our Summer Bucket List.

We started making summer bucket lists a few years ago and found that it is a great way to keep us motivated through the summer months.

We have a chalkboard in our kitchen and as we think of ideas we add them. Some of the items on our bucket list include Holiday World, baseball game, Louisville Zoo, picnics, make homemade ice cream, etc. As we do each of them, we check them off on the board.

While we do our usual Summer Reading Program events and reading time every day, we like to throw in some other fun activities as well to mix things up.

Does anyone else do this? What are some ideas your family comes up with?

In addition to the bucket list, I also give the girls new chores for the summer days. If my girls could stay in their pajamas all day, I’m pretty sure they’d do it! Ha! One of their “jobs” is to get up and get dressed by lunch!

Katie is excited because one of her new chores is to get the mail every day.

Abby gets to bring the trash cans in from the street on trash day. (She thinks that’s fun, too!)

Ellie’s chores revolve more around cleaning (She does not think that is so fun.)

Do your kids have chores? What do they do? Do they help you pick out jobs or do you take what needs to be done and hand out the responsibilities accordingly?

Regardless of their jobs, the girls are excited about break and I’m looking forward to slower mornings! During the school year it seems we run, run, run. I welcome the slower pace of summer days.

The girls are looking forward to summer classes, church camp, fair week, pool days, camping trips, vacations and more!

Let me know what your summer plans are. I’d love to hear some new ideas!
