WEST WASHINGTON SCHOOL CORPORATION

The Board of School Trustees of West Washington School Corporation met in REGULAR SESSION at 7:00 P.M. in room 175 of the West Washington High School on Monday, February 19, 2024.

President Sama opened the meeting.

Adam Brown moved to approve the bank reconciliation/fund report. The motion was seconded by Claude Combs, passing 7-0.

Adam Brown moved to approve the claims/transfers as presented.  The motion was seconded by Claude Combs, passing 7-0.

Tim Barksdale moved to accept the minutes from 1-22-24. Stephanie Keltner seconded the motion, passing 7-0.

Junior high special education teacher, Jessica Nance, presented on Camp Invention. It is a week-long STEM summer camp for students going into grades K-6. It is a non-profit organization that provides curriculum and materials for students to build creative inventions. WWSC has been selected as a host site. This will give our community’s students an opportunity that they would normally have to spend a lot more money on and travel to attend. Camp Invention will be held the week of June 3rd.

There were no patrons signed up to speak.

Claude Combs moved to approve the Personnel Report as presented. The motion was seconded by Tim Barksdale, passing 7-0.

In old business, the board voted to table the approval of usage of Rainy Day funds for safety upgrades. Stephanie Keltner made a motion to table the item with Carri Cambron seconding, passing 7-0.

In new business, Superintendent Nance recommended the Finance committee schedule a meeting on April 19th, 2024.

2/27/24:Mr. Harkness & NHS to Main Event Louisville

3/8/24:Mr. Wolfe & Golf to Top Golf, Louisville

3/10/24-3/12/24:Mr. Wolfe & BPA to Indianapolis (overnight)

3/12/24:Mr. Eisele & Health Services to Vincennes Univ.

3/18/24:Stacey Nance & 9th-12th graders for the Chamber’s Women in Business lunch

3/19/24:Stacey Nance & 10th & 11th graders to Salem Airport

4/3/24:Mr. Eisele & Health Services to Mitchell H.S.

4/10/24-4/12/24:Mr. Eisele & HOSA to Indianapolis

4/26/24: Mrs. Chastain & Art Club to IU and Brown County

5/8/24:1st grade to the Louisville Zoo

5/14/24:Mr. Wolfe & Golf to Valhalla Golf Course, Louisville

5/14/24 & 5/15/24:1st grade to Salem Public Library

Tim Barksdale seconded the motion, passing 7-0.

With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
