During an emergency meeting held Monday evening, the West Washington school board approved a resolution to continue to pay all staff during the COVID-19 cancellation.

Staff, both certified and non-certified, who can work remotely were asked to do so. Non-certified hourly staff who are not considered essential staff and can’t work from home will continue to be paid their normal hours and rates during the closure dates, without using their ALT or sick days.

Non-certified staff and bus drivers who are considered essential, but aren’t able to work due to medical conditions will be paid their normal hours and rates without using their ALT or sick days.

Staff who do use their ALT or sick days during the closure will have those days returned.

Furthermore, the period of time the school is closed will not count against anyone’s attendance bonuses.

These measures will apply until the board designates they are no longer necessary.

The resolution passed unanimously.
