Guitar Club members Adam Brewer and Brandon McCoskey talk while Brewer tries out McCoskey's guitar.

For the past 12 years, music has filled the halls near the science classrooms once a week after school, during meetings of the Guitar Club. It’s not guitar lessons, but it’s likely taught quite a few students interested in playing guitar to play.
“It’s students teaching students,” said Greg McCurdy.
“It’s a chance for some of us to teach newer players,” said Club President and senior Cameron Foutch. “We have one day a week to come and play together and a member can come up to another member with something they’re having trouble with and we can sort it out together.”
Foutch has played guitar since he was 9.
“I didn’t do much with it until high school but in high school, I considered doing more,” he said. “I thought about starting a band, but I decided to join the club instead. I thought my skills with this could be helpful in concerts and helping new members.”
He said one of the best parts of the club is the variety of ability levels in the group and, this year, the introduction of more activities.
“The thing I told Mr. McCurdy last year when I became president was that I wanted to do more concerts and things like that for these guys to show off their skills,” he said. “There’s more to come, I’m sure.”
This is junior Adam Brewer’s first year in the club.
“I just like playing guitar and wanted to learn more,” he said. “I thought it would be a good opportunity to learn. Sometimes it’s really grat to just come here and get to play whatever you want and listen to everyone else play.”
