Salem singers explore “The Hit Factory” Tuesday night

Choirs, small groups, and soloists from the Salem Choirs present the annual “Great American Songbook” show Tuesday evening, March 13, at 7:15 pm in the Performing Arts Center. Performing Arts Intern Kielynn Tally serves as narrator.
The 90-minute show features the contributions of top American songsmiths, and this year’s edition, “The Hit Factory”, centers around the work of a unique mix of writers from New York’s famed Brill Building. The Brill was a hotbed of songwriting and publishing activity in the 1950’s through the 70’s, and Tuesday’s show includes samples from the best of these.
Songs selected for this year’s production include numbers from Brill Building writers including Bacharach & David, Lieber & Stoller, Carole King, Paul Simon, Neil Sedaka, Billy Joel, and Neil Diamond.
In addition to small groups and soloists, the program features the SMS Mixed Choir and the SHS Concert Choir. This “Music In Our Schools Month” event is free to the public.
