Salem moves to virtual learning until September 4

The following is a statement from Superintendent of Salem Schools, Jon Acton, regarding the decision to go to remote learning from August 24 through September 4:

With consultation from the Washington County Health Department and the Chief Medical Officer Dr. Morgan, Salem Community Schools made the decision to move to Remote Learning beginning Monday August 24th until September 4th.

This decision was based on positive staff and student covid tests impacting all three buildings of SCS.  It is our hope that by allowing students and staff to socially distance and allow quarantine time frames to pass, we can most effectively mitigate the spread of covid.  Our plan is a return to "in person" instruction on Tuesday September 8th following Labor Day weekend.

We will update food pick up plans on Monday as we finalize plans.

Prosser students will continue their regular schedules.
