Greg McCurdy was named the 2019 Indiana Small and Rural Schools Teacher of the Year in a ceremony at Salem High School Friday.

As a part of the award, McCurdy will receive a check from Indiana Farm Bureau for $1,000.

Superintendent Dr. Lynn Reed recognized McCurdy’s talent for detail and his planning skills. He has been involved in school, city and state activities in his role as science teacher. He has been a teacher for 42 years.

Every year, the ISRSA selects a teacher to represent the state at the national level at the Rural Educational Conference. Last year, another Washington County teacher held the honor — West Washington’s John Harkness.
