A partnership between Salem Community Schools and the Indiana University Center for Rural Engagement will bring Hamiltunes to the Salem Middle School performing arts center on Saturday, Feb. 2.

Six members of the IU Singing Hoosiers will perform music from show, with six members of the Salem High School choir performing as the chorus. Doors will open at 7 p.m. and John Heavin will present an entertaining and informative talk on the life of Alexander Hamilton starting at 7:30 p.m., before the music begins.
“He teaches social studies at Salem Middle School,” said Salem High School choir director Bill Spencer-Pierce. “He’s a true history guy who loves American History specifiacally. It’ll be entertaining, I promise.”

Hamiltunes is based on the musical, but isn’t the complete show. Spencer-Pierce said it will take the form of a sing-along for those so inclined, though singing along won’t be required.

Admission is free and seating is first-come-first-served.
