Dyslexia information program Jan. 7

Bradie Shrum Elementary and the Friends of Bradie Shrum PTO are offering a special program at the January meeting. Cheryl Clemens, one of the leaders of Decoding Dyslexia-IN, will be present to help our families learn a little bit more about dyslexia.

Clemens is a graduate of Taylor University with a degree in Chemistry and Spanish and spent 13 years working for Eli Lilly and Company in Development and Regulatory Affairs. She also has three sons who were all diagnosed with dyslexia. Since their diagnosis, she has devoted her time and efforts to help educate others about recognizing dyslexia.

After seeing the difference it made in the lives of her children, Cheryl participated in the Orton Gillingham training in 2010. Through Decoding Dyslexia-IN she advocates for changes at both the state and federal level. She also volunteers her time by tutoring struggling readers.

This informative event is free and will be held in the Bradie Shrum Elementary Presentation Room on Monday, Jan. 7 at 6:30 p.m.
