Back to School Thrift Store Clothing Giveaway

With the beginning of school fast approaching, area parents are again facing the high cost of clothing their children for school.  To help the residents of Clark, Floyd, Scott and Washington counties with part of the cost, The Salvation Army, will be giving away clothing on Tuesday, July 23 from 9am–7pm at the Clarksville Thrift Store, 528 Little League Bld., Clarksville.

The give-away, now in its 28th year, is a program undertaken by the local Corps of The Salvation Army in an effort to overcome the high cost of sending children back to school.

Any child or adult residing in Clark, Floyd, Scott and Washington counties, who is enrolled in school, is eligible to participate and receive 8 articles of clothing, 1 pair shoes & 1 coat without cost.  Participants only need to bring verification of school enrollment, or birth certificate, and proof of address.

The Back to School Give-Away Program has met a tremendous need in our area.  Last year around 500 students were helped with clothing

Persons desiring to donate merchandise should bring items to the Thrift Store at 528 Little League Blvd., Clarksville.   The Thrift Stores operated by The Salvation Army are supported totally from donations of merchandise from the community.  The donated merchandise is sold during normal store hours, and the proceeds realized are used to support the Army’s community service.   In addition to selling merchandise, the Army uses the Thrift Store as a source for supplying  clothing and household goods without cost to families in need.
